Hi there! My name is Morgan and this is my blog. At the age of 30 I decided to start getting into makeup, nail polish, and beauty. I had never really been into it much for multiple reasons but the biggest one was that it hurt. My eyes and face always hurt, or were itchy. My revelation happened when my best friend gave me some indie eyeshadow for Christmas. Suddenly I didn’t itch as much and my eyelids weren’t as red when I took it off.
I delved into research and started buying any indie makeup I found. I came to find out about parabens, and I’m not going to go into a big explanation here of why they are bad, but, I discovered I was allergic to them and they are in nearly everything. I did a makeup and beauty overhaul, it wasn’t a choice, I had to. I changed shampoo, body wash, lotion and biggest of all, makeup. That one hurt, a lot went in the trash, but now I don’t even remember I have makeup on unless I look in a mirror because it’s so comfortable.
I started to write this blog just as a hobby, and was getting into it but life kind of got in the way, but then something happened. In March 2014 I was attacked at my job and had my head beaten and obtained a tramatic brain injury/concussion. I thought I would get better quickly, but boy was I wrong. I worked hard at getting better but ended up with a diagnosis of post concussion syndrome, which included a whole skew of symptoms and still does. At one of my lowest points I decided to start getting into polish more because I became so self conscience and didn’t want to show my face for makeup reviews.
I followed suit with indie makeup and went indie polish. Surprisingly it helped me cope with some of the symptoms, like hand tremors, concentration, and working on the blog helped me to work on remembering things. I’m still recovering, but I’m so happy I switched to a indie polish only blog. I’ve found many friends in this community, and it’s definitely turned into a passion. I hope you enjoy my adventures and attempts to grow in nail art, thanks for reading! ^_^
