Chirality: Distant Lands Review

Standard

It’s been a while since I did a polish from Chirality, which is a shame because it is one of my favorite indies. I decided to do another one from the mc Chris For The Win collection, Distant Lands to be specific. This polish is a greenish teal crelly with black, purple and holographic glitters.

image

As you can see, it’s beautiful in the bottle, and not a lot of sinking of the large glitters either.

Absolutely no fishing with this polish, which was a big surprise with those big circle glitters. As you can see there are all kinds of different sizes and colors of glitter in there. The dry time was excellent, and the formula is good, but as with most polishes with large glitters you need a few coats of top coat to smooth it out. I did two coats of Distant Lands to reach opacity.

Products used: Dainty Digits Polish Glitter Be Gone basecoat,  Chirality Distant Lands,  I, A.M CustomColor DiamondPRO topcoat.

Daily Hues Nail Lacquer: Winter/Holiday Collection Review

Standard

Today I have for you part of the Winter and Holiday release from Daily Hues Nail Lacquer.  First up are two of the six colors in the Winter Collection.   Charolette, a beautiful terracotta rose color and Violet, a satiny light purple.  Both of these colors are available matte or glossy, I’m going to be showing the glossy versions.

image

image

image

image

Both colors applied like a dream and had excellent dry time.  I did two coats to reach opacity.

Products used: Duri Revacote, Orly Bonder basecoat, Charolette or Violet, I, A.M. CustomColor DiamondPRO topcoat.

Up next I have Holly, a rich green holo, and Eve, a packed silver holo glitter that is opaque in two coats.  Rather than do a normal swatch with Eve I did something fun with it.

My nail art skills are still lacking, but it takes practice, right?  Eve applied well and dried quickly and you can see how blingy it is even just in the stripes!  Holly is gorgeous, but, clean up was a bit of a pain with it.  I expected as much though since it’s a highly pigmented darker color and those types of polish usually are a little more stubborn during clean up.  The clean up is definitely worth it with the color and holo pay off.  I used two coats of Holly, but probably could of used one.

Products used: Dainty Digits Glitter Be Gone basecoat,  Holly and Eve, I, A.M. CustomColor DiamondPRO topcoat.

Overall I loved all the polishes, even with the clean up.  All contact information for the store is below, and as always, thanks for reading!  ^_^

Living Dead Lacquer Review

Standard

I found Living Dead Lacquer through Instagram, and loved the name and logo, so I decided to pick up some polish from her!   I got two of her Halloween colors, It’s Alive and Bats and Black Cats.

image

It’s Alive is a pretty green crelly with black shreds, and definitely makes me think of Frakenstein’s Monster, it was opaque in three thin coats and has excellent dry time.

Bats and Black Cats is a black jelly with purple and green glitter.  This was also opaque at three thin coats, and also dried extremely well.

There were no clean up issues, even with all the glitter.  Also, a side note, Hilarie, the owner, is an absolute sweetie, so don’t ever be afraid to contact her!

Products used: Duri Revacote, Orly Bonder Basecoat,  Living Dead Lacquer It’s Alive and Bats and Black Cats,  I,A.M. CustomColor DiamondPRO topcoat.

She currently is sold out of these colors, but has two colors in her store still for a rock bottom price of $2.75 plus shipping.   This is the last of the Halloween set, and she is working on her next collection!   I also did a Halloween look with the polish here.  All information for the shop is below, and as always, thanks for reading! ^_^

MTL Creations: Fall Collection Review

Standard

I got to swatch for MTL Creations recently, for her new Fall Collection, and I’m so excited to show you guys these!  This is a new brand to me, even though I’ve been watching her Instagram since I saw her True Blood inspired collection. She’s an absolute sweetheart, too!  On to the collection!

image

I love all of the colors in this collection.  I’m picky on reds, but I still love Apple Crush

image

image

It’s a gorgeous soft red holo polish.  It’s different than other reds I’ve seen and I really like it!

The next one is Foresta Lumina, look it up on Google to see its inpiration!

image

image

This is a beautiful forest green holo.  Once again,  a unique shade, and very pretty.   I added a fairy stamp because the name and inspiration felt very whimsical to me.

The next one I have for you is Once In a Blue Moon, a beautiful deep blue holo.

image

image

This is the one I still have on writing this post.  It’s beautiful and it hasn’t chipped even a little.  I used a sheer white color to stamp a moon and stars to get a silvery sheer look.

Last, but surely not least is Star Dust, a gold fine glitter topper.

image

image

I used it over Zoya Josie, and used two thin coats of the glitter.  Each application had plenty of glitter, with no digging.

All the polishes from this collection applied well, and had excellent dry time. I did three coats of each of the colors, and two of the glitter,  as stated.

Products used: Duri Revacote,  Orly Bonder basecoat,  polish shown, I,A.M. CustomColor DiamondPRO topcoat.

All links to the store are below.  Definitely take a look at all her other beautiful polishes and her crocheted creations.  As always, thanks for reading! ^_^

I,A.M CustomColor: What Medicine? Duo Review

Standard

Earlier this month I covered (here) the release of the three new sets for I,A.M. CustomColor’s Rebel 4 A Cause Series.  This is going to be a review of the duo for October from the What Medicine? Collection, and they can be purchased seperately here.  25% of each purchase goes to Doctors Without Borders

image

On the left is Secret Serum, a green shifty holo and on the right is Outbreak, a beautiful Halloweenish glitter topper.

Here is Secret Serum alone:

image

I had a hard time catching all the shifty goodness from this, but it looks amazing in person.

Here is Secret Serum topped with Outbreak, and an accent nail with just Outbreak:

image

I love Outbreaks colors,  it makes me think Halloween, but really makes me think of the video game series Resident Evil for some reason.

image

Here are macro shots.  Top is normal lighting,  bottom is under LED.

Secret Serum felt a little thicker than her normal formula, but I’m attributing that to how jam packed with holo it is.  It didn’t make it hard to work with at all either.  Outbreak was pretty easy to get the glitter out, but of course, with larger pieces make sure you let the bottle sit upside down for about 5-10 minutes, and roll it between your hands.

Products used: Dainty Digits Polish Glitter Be Gone basecoat,  I,A.M. CustomColor Secret Serum and Outbreak,  I,A.M. CustomColor DiamondPRO topcoat.

Dollish Polish: Look At The Flowers Lizzie Review

Standard

This Wednesday review I did something more simple since I’ve been pretty sick all week, but still wanted to get something up for you guys!  I chose Dollish Polish, Look At The Flowers Lizzie.  This is available as a mini, which is in the last link, or full size here.  I will be linking to the mini through the post, since that’s what I bought. ^_^

WARNING: If you haven’t seen the forth season of The Walking Dead,  this post contains spoilers (totally said in a River Song voice).  So read no further and to see just swatches go to my instagram here.  Remember,  SPOILERS, I warned you!!

This is a colab between Dollish Polish and Accio Lacquer for the first Fandom Collection.  The second collection has been released, and both are definitely worth checking out!

image

The minis are 9 mL, which is nice since most minis are 5 mL, that’s almost twice the amount for about the same price of $5.00.  This polish was inspired by one of the most dramatic, gut wrenching scenes in the fourth season of The Walking Dead, when Lizzie was told to look at the flowers before her crazy little butt was taken out by Carol.  As a huge Walking Dead fan, I had to get it as soon as I saw it, it’s so messed up that a child had to die, but it really shows how cruel that world can be.

There is so much glitter in this polish, with absolutely no fishing at all.  I did let it sit upside down overnight, like I usually do, and gave it a good shake before I used it.  It is so packed with glitter I doubt there would be many fishing issues either way.

image

image

The formula is amazing in this polish, I couldn’t believe how well it applied and how fast it dried.   I used four very thin coats to reach this opacity.  It’s very sheer with one coat, so it could definitely be used as a topper as well.  I also used Glitter Be Gone peel off basecoat from Dainty Digits Polish.  I will be posting a review of that later this week.

image

Products used: Dainty Digit Polish Glitter Be Gone Basecoat,  Dollish Polish Look At The Flowers Lizzie,  Duri Revacote,  ellagee Glass Topcoat.

I really love this polish and can’t wait to try out my other purchases from Dollish Polish.  Definitely check out her main page here and her retired/clearance page on etsy here, which has restocks once a week, and rotating stock.  As always, thanks for reading!  ^_^

Tater Rounds Beauty – Zombie Girl Collection Review

Standard

Welcome everyone!   This week I decided to take on a challenge and review a whole collection, rather than just a polish or just makeup.  I found Tater Rounds Beauty a while back on etsy, just doing my normal browse through indies that I do.  I decided to pick something up from one of the many indie vendors I have saved on etsy and came across the Zombie Girl Collection on her page.  Not only did it have an awesome theme and purple stuff, god do I love purple, it was on sale too.  At the time of this writing she does still have it available and on sale, if you don’t see it up, definitely contact her, she is very easy to talk to.  She also send a nice amount of samples my way.  I didn’t do a look with them, but they are swatched.

So first, the packaging.  It came in a media sized flat rate postal box with tissue paper and packing peanuts.   Then everything inside was packaged like this.

image

The green bag contained the collection and the pink envelope contained the samples.  Everything was wrapped well, and nothing was damaged in shipping.  Here is everything once I opened it all up.

image

You gotta love those cute little piggies!  Now, on her listings it says she doesn’t use labels, but obviously my shadows and samples had them.  She may just be switching over at this point and need to redo descriptions.  I like labels personally,  so I know what color I need to look for if I want to reorder.  As far as I know all items in this collection can be ordered seperately accept the Zombie color, but she does say contact her if you would like to order in the listing.

Here are the descriptions of everything that came in the collection,  taken straight from the listing.

Eyeshadows
Violet Eyes – metallic shimmer purple
Dark Horse- A satin pure black, dark as the night sky
Purple Swim Suit – A super bright purple with golden shimmer
Zombie – A limey yellow green with a intense shimmer

Lip Gloss
Seductive Berry- A berry purpleish red

Nail Polish
Virus – A purple blue mix of color with black glitter mixed through it

And now some swatches to show all the sparkly goodness.  If you want to see a video go here.

image

All colors are listed, first photo is with flash and second is in natural light. The first 4 are what are included in the collection, and the last 4 are the samples I recieved. Shadow above description was applied without primer, below was, using my go to MBA’s Shadow Poxy .  Obviously as per norm, colors are darker and cling better to the primer, and that’s why I always recommend it. The colors were still very pigmented without the primer as well, just a softer look.  I really liked all the colors, and everything applied well and “clung” to the primer on my lid.  Violet Eyes is my favorite by far, super sparkly and looks amazing put on with a damp brush.

Here’s the swatch of the included lip gloss, Seductive Berry, and the sample, Black Orchid.

image

Both applied well and had great pigment, I’m probably going to pick up a full size of Black Orchid when I run out of the sample.   The only warning I have here is to keep it in a cool place.  My upstairs isn’t air conditioned and it got pretty soft, but that’s pretty normal with the organic stuff.  It still applied well, I just needed to be more gentle with it.

Here is the look I did with the collection.

image

Everything stayed on very well. I put Purple Swim Suit all over the lid as a base then blended Violet Eyes into the outer corner and into the middle. Then I used Dark Horse in the crease and used a little more Purple Swim Suit to blend it out and up.  I used Zombie along the lower lash line and around the tear duct and blended that in to the lid. I lined my waterline with UD’s Black Velvet and did mascara on upper and lower lashes.

Other Products Used
-Urban Decay Naked Foundation in 1.0
-Geek Chic Cosmetics Foundation Powder in Codex
-Geek Chic Blush in Newb
-Urban Decay 24/7 Eyeliner in Black Velvet on the waterline
-Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara
-Smashbox Brow Tech Trio in Taupe/Soft Brown

Up next, nail polish!  It was opaque at 3 coats and has a unique look with the micro glitter and the larger black glitter.  It dried quicky, and had plenty of glitter in each swipe, so I didn’t need to dig for it at all.  For the nail art I attempted the make your own nail sticker method, and and added blue rhinestones.  I think it looks ok, but this was my first attempt at nail art.  The first shot is in shade and the second is in direct sunlight.

image

And here is the micro shot.

image

And that’s it.  I tried to make it not terribly picture heavy, but there was a lot to show!  Overall I’m happy with the whole set and will be purchasing more.  If you want to buy this set click here and to visit her main site click here. Thanks for reading. ^_^
