Living Dead Lacquer: Ultron Trio

Standard

These beauties will be releasing tomorrow, 4/24/15. Living Dead Lacquer is a newer indie brand with great quality polish, plus the owner, Hilarie, is super nice as well and a nice owner is always awesome to see!  All three polishes dried quickly with no smudging. Up first I have Mark XLIII, inspired by Iron Man.

As you can see Mark XLIII is a beautiful shimmery red with small gold hexes. I used three coats, but opacity could be reached at two to three coats, depending on how think you put it on.

Products used: Dainty Digits Polish Glitter Be Gone basecoat, Living Dead Lacquer Mark XLIII, I, A.M CustomColor DiamondPRO topcoat.

This beauty is No Strings On Me, inspired by Ultron himself. It’s a shimmery silver with small red and black hex glitters. Opacity can be reached in two to three coats, I did three here.

Products used: Dainty Digits Polish Glitter Be Gone basecoat, Living Dead Lacquer No Strings On Me, I, A.M CustomColor DiamondPRO topcoat.

This is Super Soldier, inspired by Captain America. This polish can look almost black on your nail but has this wonderful flash of navy when you move your fingers around. It’s very beautiful in person, and probably my favorite of the set. It has small red and silver glitters throughout as well too. Opacity in two to three coats, I did three here.

Products used: Dainty Digits Polish Glitter Be Gone basecoat, Living Dead Lacquer Super Soldier, I, A.M CustomColor DiamondPRO topcoat.

If you haven’t tried this brand yet I highly recommend it. Her shop reopens tomorrow for launch along with some other new products and mystery polishes. All info for the shop is below, and as always, thanks for reading! ^_^

Forever Polished: Dragon Party Review

Standard

I recently was a lucky winner in an Instagram contest and won a gift certificate to Forever Polished and Dragon Party was one of the polishes I picked.  Now, to anyone that knows me, purple is my absolute favorite color, so Dragon Party was a no brainer.  It is a dark squishy jelly with black and iridescent glitters in a bunch of different shapes.

image

Shipping was very fast, and I wasn’t disappointed when I opened the package.  It dries to a matte finish, but looks fantastic with topcoat as well.

image

For all the glitter, it dries rather smooth, which is nice if you chose to wear it like this.

image

image

image

I took pictures in all kinds of light because this polish looks different depending on what type of light it’s under.   You will see below in the macro how it looks a different shade in that light as well.

image

I did two coats for opacity.  The formula was a little thicker, but, not hard to work with at all.  Again, I’m impressed how smooth it is without topcoat.  Dry time was very fast and I had no smudging issues.  I actually hit my one nail with my orange stick and I just patted it down and it looked like nothing had ever happened.

Products used: Duri Revacote,  Orly Bonder, Forever Polished Dragon Party, ellagee Glass topcoat.

All contact information for  Forever Polished below.  She has a lot of very beautiful shades, and polishes that look different than other ones I’ve seen.   As always, thanks for reading! ^_^

Dollish Polish: Look At The Flowers Lizzie Review

Standard

This Wednesday review I did something more simple since I’ve been pretty sick all week, but still wanted to get something up for you guys!  I chose Dollish Polish, Look At The Flowers Lizzie.  This is available as a mini, which is in the last link, or full size here.  I will be linking to the mini through the post, since that’s what I bought. ^_^

WARNING: If you haven’t seen the forth season of The Walking Dead,  this post contains spoilers (totally said in a River Song voice).  So read no further and to see just swatches go to my instagram here.  Remember,  SPOILERS, I warned you!!

This is a colab between Dollish Polish and Accio Lacquer for the first Fandom Collection.  The second collection has been released, and both are definitely worth checking out!

image

The minis are 9 mL, which is nice since most minis are 5 mL, that’s almost twice the amount for about the same price of $5.00.  This polish was inspired by one of the most dramatic, gut wrenching scenes in the fourth season of The Walking Dead, when Lizzie was told to look at the flowers before her crazy little butt was taken out by Carol.  As a huge Walking Dead fan, I had to get it as soon as I saw it, it’s so messed up that a child had to die, but it really shows how cruel that world can be.

There is so much glitter in this polish, with absolutely no fishing at all.  I did let it sit upside down overnight, like I usually do, and gave it a good shake before I used it.  It is so packed with glitter I doubt there would be many fishing issues either way.

image

image

The formula is amazing in this polish, I couldn’t believe how well it applied and how fast it dried.   I used four very thin coats to reach this opacity.  It’s very sheer with one coat, so it could definitely be used as a topper as well.  I also used Glitter Be Gone peel off basecoat from Dainty Digits Polish.  I will be posting a review of that later this week.

Products used: Dainty Digit Polish Glitter Be Gone Basecoat,  Dollish Polish Look At The Flowers Lizzie,  Duri Revacote,  ellagee Glass Topcoat.

I really love this polish and can’t wait to try out my other purchases from Dollish Polish.  Definitely check out her main page here and her retired/clearance page on etsy here, which has restocks once a week, and rotating stock.  As always, thanks for reading!  ^_^

I,A.M…CustomColor: Tak: Hideous New Girl (Invader Zim Part 2 Release)

Standard

Today I have something special for you guys. This is Tak: Hideous New Girl, a brand new polish from I,A.M…CustomColor This 5 piece collection is set to release later this month. This is going to be a picture heavy post, but I wanted to show the polish in all of its glory!

image

Don’t you just love her new labels! They were created by Lou It Yourself.

image

Yay, light box! I absolutely love this polish. It’s a beautiful purple holo, and it sparkles like crazy, just like my previous review.

image

I used a color from her Invader Zim Part 1 release for the nail art. The color is Idiot Dog Brain and is currently on sale for $8 with free shipping. It is being discontinued, so pick one up while you can!

The polish applied well and wasn’t to thick or to thin. I used a layer of Duri Revacote, then a layer of Orly Bonder, and did three layers of Tak: Hideous New Girl. I could of gotten away with two layers to reach opacity, but decided on three to be extra careful. I used I,A.M…CustomColor’s topcoat, Diamond Pro and needed just one coat for shiny coverage. I topped it all off with her cuticle oil in the glorious scent of Monkey Farts. This is the best smelling cuticle oil I’ve ever used, and worked well on my beaten up cuticles.

Overall, I love the polish, and didn’t have any issues with it. Dry time was a little longer because I did three layers, but nothing ridiculous.

If you haven’t tried I,A.M…CustomColor, I would highly suggest it. To keep up to date with all her new releases and sales, please visit all her outlets below. As always, thanks for reading! ^_^

Polish Addict Nail Color: Sea Witch Review

Standard

Today I have Sea Witch from Polish Addict Nail Color aka PANC.  It is a bright neon purple/pink color with purple and holo glitter.  This was a summer color and has since been discontinued, but I still wanted to so it to everyone.

image

It looks more purple and darker in the bottle than on the nail, but it’s still a very pretty color either way.

image

Top left picture is in shade, below is with flash, and to the right is in sunlight.  I did a little piece of seaweed and left the other nails just the color to show off the polish.

image

Application was pretty good, but as with most glitter packed polish sometimes I had to go back for a little more since it’s a little thicker than a cream polish may be.  I did have little chunks of color in the polish that were larger than the glitter, and I may have just shaken it well enough before application.

Dry time wasn’t super fast, but wasn’t super slow either.  I’d just let it dry well between layers and you should be good.  I didn’t have any smearing issues while it was drying either. Obtained opacity with 2 coats of polish.  Overall I feel it’s an awesome polish and I love the bright color pay off.

Polish was applied with a layer of Duri Revacote,  Orly Bonder, two layers of Sea Witch, and two layers of ellagee’s glass topcoat to smooth out the bumps.

Please visit Polish Addict Nail Color and check out her newly released galaxy inspired colors and a Sons of Anarchy thermal polish, which I myself will be purchasing in the near future.   As always, thanks for reading!  ^_^

Night Owl Cosmetics: August Mystery Box Review

Standard

So, as I’ve said in some of my other posts, I have a nasty allergy to parabens, and probably a few other ingredients in a lot of mainstream or cheap makeup.  I use to be subscribed to Ipsy, but it ended up not being worth it to me because I was allergic to half the stuff I got in it.  I’ve been on a search to try some indie/artisan mystery boxes, since they seem so far, to not irritate me.  I found Night Owl Cosmetics and saw she has a monthly mystery box.

The difference between a mystery box and subscription box like Ipsy is that you don’t have the money automatically taken out each month, you have to go an purchase it each month.  This is nice because if you don’t have money one month you don’t have to go through the hassle of canceling a subscription.  Plus, all the items are made by Night Owl Cosmetics personally, so you know who hand their hands in the product you’re getting.  So now for some photos!

image

I love that you get a card listing each thing you recieved and the details.  It’s nice for reordering, plus it’s all in one place.  The packaging is also very nice and makes you feel like you got a present!

I loved everything in this box.  My first thought when I opened the package was, “What is this amazing smell?!?”.  It was the Pink Sugared Grapefruit Wax Tart.  Now, I didn’t own a tart warmer before getting this box, but I sure as heck have one now.  The tart lasted for a long time, and smelled just as amazing melted as it did in the package.  I was very sad when it was done.  As of this writing there won’t be tarts in the shop at the grand opening on August 31, but will be in the near future.

Now for the perfume!  I haven’t found a lot of perfume oils I like.  Most are too strong or irritate my skin.  Not with Beach Tea Party!  No irritation at all, and smells amazing too.  I used it as soon as I got it.  I’m planning on getting the full size roller ball perfume as soon as I run out of the sample size.  My husband even said it smelled really good.

I also got two polishes in the mystery box, Nude My Frank and Blue Shark.  Nude My Frank is up first.

image

First photo is in shade, second is in the sun.  I really enjoy the nude polish with the bright contrast of the glitters, and I’m not usually a nude colored type of gal.

image

There is a lot of sparkle in this too, the photos really don’t do it justice, you just have to see it in person.  I did have to fish just a little bit for the bigger glitter, but it wasn’t too bad.  I did have both of the polishes sitting upside down before use to help move the large glitters to the top.  I did two layers of polish to reach opacity with this one.

image

Same as above, first photo is in the shade and the second is in the sun.  Blue Shark is a white crelly with tons of glitter, no fishing at all in this one.  I love this one a lot, it’s definitely more in my normal choice spectrum.   I’ve been on a severe white with colored glitter kick recently too.

image

This polish is totally drool worthy.  I used 3 layers of polish to reach this coverage.  Both polishes dried pretty quickly, but I’d definitely recommend dry time between layers with both of them, they stayed squishy for a little bit.

With both polishes I did a layer of Duri Revacote,  then Orly Bonder, and topped both with ellagee’s topcoat glass.

The only small complaint I had about this box was that the wax from the tart was kind of on everything, so I had to wipe it all down after I took it out. I would like to see it wrapped in a small amount of tissue paper, or some type of paper, just to keep it from rubbing on the other items and leaving the residue. Otherwise this was a giant hit for me, I loved everything else about it.

Night Owl Cosmetics has her grand opening scheduled for August 31.  Check out her Facebook and Instagram for updates on everything, it should be a fun opening!  As always, thanks for reading! ^_^

Cameo Colours Lacquers: Catwalk Claws Review

Standard

This is my very first midweek review!  I’m going to try to have one every week, but we will see how it goes.  I decided I couldn’t wait any longer and just had to try out Catwalk Claws from Cameo Colours Lacquers.  At the time of this writing it is currently sold out. [EDIT: Cameo contacted me and let me know it is now back in stock, and can be purchased here.] Here is the description taken straight from the site:

” Created to honor New York Fashion Week via a contribution by The Artisan Group to GBK’s NY Fashion Week Celebrity Gifting Event, Catwalk Claws is a gray jelly polish with a shifting pink to purple shimmer, fully of holographic silver, purple, and metallic purple microglitters.”

When I saw this one I had to have it, and oh boy, I’m glad I got it. When I move it around in light it reminds me of camera flashes, like on a red carpet.

image

You can see a hint of sparkle even in the bottle.  Now as normal with micro glitter polish it dries to a textured finish.  I forgot to take a photo before I added topcoat (oops), but it still looks gorgeous with two layers of ellagee’s topcoat glass.

image

Top left photo is in shade, below it is flash and to the right is in sunlight.  I did a simple accent nail using a vinyl strip and mylar with a purple stone to put it all together. This polish has layers to its beauty for sure.  Here’s some macro shots to show off all the glitter.

image

It was opaque in two coats, and dried quickly.  I used Duri Revacote,  and then Orly Bonder, two layers of the polish and two layers of ellagee’s topcoat glass.  It was a little hard to do clean up on, but glitter is always stubborn and I was trying a new polish remover as well, so that may have been it.  If you haven’t checked Cameo Colours Lacquers before, I hope you will now!  Thanks for reading! ^_^
